Gratitude

We are invited to at least 3 places for Thanksgiving. My parents, my husband's parents & his Grandma are all having dinner. At 1:00 p.m.
What to do? Well, we'll hopscotch our way through the day. We plan to start at his Grandma's...where we'll eat dinner. Then head on over to his parents' house to eat dessert. Maybe graze a little too. Then we'll come home and right next door, my parents will have leftovers galore for us.
I am a pretty thankful person, as people go. I wake up happy and am thankful for the opportunity to live another day. I take pleasure in the simple & mundane...fresh coffee, sunshine, the newspaper, having gas in my vehicle, a buck in my wallet, Munchos in the pantry....etc.
I usually think of things on Thanksgiving Day, certain events that happened in the past year, to celebrate. You know, the bigger stuff.
Like my sister-in-law recently found out that her aunt is a near-perfect match, and she'll be receiving a new kidney in 2 weeks. No more shitty dialysis 10 hours a day. She'll be getting a fresh start...that's much to be grateful for.
My vehicle is finally paid off...along with the credit cards. That's an awesome feeling and I'm grateful for the peace of mind.
Our cottage is finally pretty much finished since we sided it this spring. Nice not living in something that resembled a U.F.O. (it was wrapped in the silvery insulation board for 2 years) Thankful, again.
My dog of 9 years didn't die when he was run over a few months ago. We were out in the side yard having a campfire and he ran to the road when a car slowed so the driver could wave to us...and she didn't see him standing in front of her car waving back, when she pulled ahead. He broke his pelvis but survived. So, so thankful.
The best thing of all? That our parents are all still here in this world.....wanting to feed us turkey. And they're not mad that we'll be spreading ourselves thin. We'll be sure to visit each of them and share a meal. I'm laughing because for people spreading themselves thin...we sure are getting FAT.

Hugs, the grey lady
Sounds like you had a fantastic year with some big accomplishments. I envy you that both you and your husband's parents are still alive to visit. I never knew my husband's parents because they both passed on before we met and mine have both passed on too now. We miss them so much! Enjoy your visits!
Visiting from SITS, Happy Thanksgiving!
How did the three dinners go? This made me giggle because in the UK there is a popular sitcom about a female priest who is invited to Christmas dinner by several members of her church; so as not to offend anyone, she goes to all of them and is literally unable to walk at the end!
It was a really great day. I tried not to overdo it, but by the end of the evening I was completely stuffed:) And unlike the priest on the sitcom, I could still walk...albeit slowly. Hubby tried to sabotage our itinerary by falling asleep at each house, though. I was sure to NOT let him get into deep-sleep mode. Just par for the course, I guess!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!
Glad you had a great thanksgiving, sure sounds like you ATE your way thru! ;) That's always cool :) Haha!

Sounds like you've had a great year. I do the same thing, looking back, appreciating what we've been through and how we've all grown. It just keeps getting better!
Happy SITS Saturday, even though it's now Sunday!
Sounds like a great day!! I ended up having EVERYONE (24 in all) over my house this year to avoid the run around. But I don't think it was easier - LOL! Still grateful too though. :-)
Those are certainly a lot of things to be thankful for! My father in law died of kidney failure so I am so happy for her!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am grateful too for having family that still wants to stuff me full of turkey. So glad your dog survived. Nothing like trauma around the holidays.
This is lovely. I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
Thanks for visiting me on my SITS day!
Three families to visit? That's A LOT of love (and turkey) right there! So glad I found your blog. I'm a fierce supporter of the right for gays to marry... I'm thankful I was able to marry who I love, and wish all of my friends could do the same.
Thanks so much for linking this to my Gratitude Party!
